Specific Charge for the 2024 – 2025 Academic Year
Building on the work plan proposed in its 2023-24 report, the Faculty Affairs committee will focus on promotion, a top issue for all three tracks (T/TT, RTPC and Adjunct/Part-Time). The committee will work with the Faculty Councils to determine whether each school has its own promotion document, approved by the Provost, clearly explaining promotion eligibility requirements, the promotion process and the criteria for successful promotion. If a school does not have promotion policies for one or more tracks or if the policies are unclear or can be improved in some other way, the committee will recommend to the school Faculty Council and the Provost that changes be made.
Specific Charge for the 2025 – 2026 Academic Year
For the 2025-2026 academic year, the Faculty Affairs Committee is charged with preparing presentations around best practices in faculty mentoring. The presentation should highlight a variety of mentoring practices and guidance for implementation. The Committee is additionally charged with working with School Deans to develop effective ways to disseminate information on promotion of mentoring to department chairs, faculty councils and faculty. The Executive Board of the Senate will assist with the dissemination of the presentation.
